Trained Lay Leaders
The Key to Success for a Growing Church
I am thoroughly convinced that the key to success for any growing church are well trained spirit filled, and dedicated Lay Leaders. The Church of Jesus Christ is suffering in many dimensions today. We have made gains and at the same time we have suffered many losses. I am convinced that the Lay Leaders in any local churches who have stop growing both spiritually and educationally becomes one of the greatest hindrances to successful church growth.
We must realize that we are living in a changing world, and the way in which we present and represent the things of God should be done in a manner which reflects change to the highest good and to the Glory of God. Our message has not changed but our methods must change. Our principles of holiness have not changed but our response to meeting the needs of our community must change. We must become a more caring and Christ honoring Church. Those who are leaders among us must seek to serve the diverse community in which God has placed us.
If you are a leader who is determined to remain in the past and is unwilling to grow spiritually, educationally, emotionally you will be sadly left behind. We must seek to broaden our mental horizons by reading good biblical literature. We must avoid the status quo mentality of saying it has been done this way for so many years it cannot be done any better.
The people who make a difference in promoting growth in the church are the people who seek God in prayer, seek to understand the Word of God and apply it to their everyday lives, and most importantly is willing and open to the Holy Spirit' leading and direction in spiritual things. Private Bible reading and study, private prayer, and seeking intimate relationship with God are the hallmark of those Lay Leaders who are making positive impact in our church and its ministries.
